An improvment on your previous work...

Hello again, Mr. Spriter. This is HaroFreak at the reviewing booth again!

Firstly, I applaude your improvment involving using multiple sprites for actions. This has indeed been an improvement over your last piece of work.

Now onto the detailed analysis:

Your graphics have what I call a slight improvment from last time partly because you now use multiple sprites for your animations. Now that you also introduce more complex tweening I also applaude you for. On the other hand; some of the animation looks un-natural especially the running and some of the attacks. The back attack on Bass (a.k.a Forte in Japan) seems to be rather sudden but un-natural looking. I think it helps when you do Rockman doing some After-Images of his own as a confusing attack sequence to make it better Eye Candy. And one more thing about the beginning dialogue; I suggest that you
make the monitor which shows X and Forte larger for better visual experience. And check your spelling regularily. It helps the viewer a lot to understand what is going on.

Your sound is a nice choice. Some well synchronised sound effects make for a better viewing experience. A great leap from previously! The sound effects are mostly clear, so kudos for it!

You added a play and restart button for better user-friendliness. This is a good addition.

The style is a common one; A battle between two separate characters from different games/timelines... But unlike many our there, this one seems to have a plot brewing up. Espeically when Bass mentions about his "Master Plan". It's a decent cliffhanger, if it was not too over-used.

A bit of Robot Violence, mostly hits and explosions and no visible oil leakages...

Small fragments of humour, but that is it. As this is what seems to be a serious-type animation, so it is naturally low in humour.

In general, this has indeed been a great improvment on your last piece of work. Your primary field of improvment is to make the sprite movements more natural. Now that is something which would bump your animation rating up! Good luck with your next project.

Spriter responds:

Your reviews are always the most informative, thanks! Im not continuing with this, but Im currently making a flash called Mario V Sonic Spriter Special (I used the file of VGDC for the competition, wich is long over, but hey, I can still use the file!)

The plot thickens... BEAUTIFULLY!

Hello! And good evening again, Adam-san! HaroFreak reviewing this time; LONESOUL~~~ EPISODE THREE!!

There were many traces of a professional aura around your movies. Many involve the lighting effects, the sound effects, the SPECIAL FEATURES (Beautiful, beautiful... BEAUTIFUL!!)... All which were implemented into the animation like an official release DVD with profiles, music, extra gimmicks...

Your graphics are beautifully done. The blurring, the arm movements, the joints, lighting, etc... A major improvment from Lonesoul Episode one indeed. Same goes with making such nice robot designs and scenes. You really put your mind to this piece of work.

The music is a beautiful choice. Ranging from slow music to suit flashbacks to somewhat crescendo music during the Reunion scene. In the trailer for Lonesoul IV, I had no idea that a Kingdom Hearts theme could be put to such great use. Well done indeed!

The style is excellent. Despite how a Futuristic story can be written, this one is FIENDISHLY well written. Ranging from dialogue from different people and machines with different professions. In your trailer, it reminds me of the trailer of Kingdom Hearts II (Also known as: Deep Dive), especially with the numbers and quotes, but it's indeed a cliffhanging trailer which gives very strong encouragement to await Lonesoul IV. If there is a reward for "Most Epic Storyline", you have yourself an easy win!

Your interactivity has taken a shot up from last time; especially with the Scene-Selection, the Character Database and... the whole Special Section effectively!

In conclusion; Lonesoul III is by far the greatest of the three in the series. The plot thickens greatly when Lonesoul is now in custody of his past captors and he now fights for them to have his memories returned... or does he?

With my closing few words;
Adam-san, you are indeed busy lately. But don't let that bring Lonesoul IV down! You can do it! Good luck, you have my full support!

This is HaroFreak; Andrew Yau; Signing out!

adam-p89 responds:

Thanks so much Andrew! I really appreciate your long and in-depth reviews, they are the best on NG in my opinion. Lonesoul VI will start production after Christmas, as I will have a graphics tablet which allows me to draw realistic hand-drawn animation. And "Fallen Piece" was intended to be a little reference to Deep Dive for those who have seen it ;-). Thanks!

I only have enough attention to say: WOW...

Well, not really. But anyway. *What? I'm online now?!* *AHEM*

Hello and good evening. This is HaroFreak at the reviews counter.

The graphics here are amazing. The blurring makes for effective motion effects and dramatic moves performed by the characters. On the other hand, some of the soldiers seem a bit two-dimensional. But that's not enough to ruin the beauty of this!

The sound is a very interesting touch to the animation. Very synchronised, very dramatic and very effective; most importantly. The voices not only clear but the script is well written indeed.

The style... Despite how over-used it might have been in the previous years on NG, the style here is just beautifully remodelled not only with building-to-building battles, but also with a great cliffhanger in the end.

The violence element is mostly the fighting. But assuming that being kicked down causes short circuits mean those soldiers were robots of course. But I still sympathise for the robot-deaths (Too much Rockman X for me, perhaps?).

In general, this is indeed a movie which I would expect some great sequels out of. Beautifully done; Adam. And keep up the good work.

This is HaroFreak signing out, and good night.

adam-p89 responds:

Dearest HaroFreak, thanks so much for your review! I love how your reviews are so in-depth and analyse all aspects of a movie! Glad you liked everything, this was my first real non-stick movie, thus was a breaking away from sticks for me, and a stepping stone in my animation style. Nice work realising the Soldier 01's were robots, that they are indeed. I'll be looking forward to your feedback for the other Episodes as well!

First Flash Eh? More like...

The first glimpse of a potential flash artist!

Oh, my apologies. Good evening, my identity is HaroFreak.

On another blam/protect trip in the Portal, I came across your movie. And... Here I go:

The graphics of your "Motrix" (Mariotrix, I initially thought) are decently implemented, partiucularily the after-images. The Luigis (sic) are no exception to the additional graphics. My only complaint is the constrain of making many animations using only one sprite. I believe you can improve on it in the future.

Your sound... well. Not too much to compliment about it. You put in a sound file. No speical stuff, no flashy dramatics, no confusion!

Despite how small your filesize is (Which is a good thing, I promise. Since you kept the file small for all animations), I suggest you add a pre-loader since not everyone has Broadband. Heck; Not everyone's Modulator Demodulators (MoDem, for Short) exceeds 48.8k!! Snag one from the Portal page and follow its instructions. It would fit just fine.

Style and the other properties of your movie are not much to mention. All along the so-so boundary. Nothing too "Capturing" about any of those properties.

Well, in summary; It is a nice cute little remake of the "Matrix Reloaded" battle scenes using "Mario Bros." characters. If you other people out there are reading this review, trust me, this movie is worth a shot if you're willing to see how much untapped potential this "Flasher" has.

Spriter responds:

Thanks for that amazing review and comments! I appreciate it and in the future, I will use more than one sprite :P

HAHA! Funny.

Uhhh, ok, so it isn't all taht funny in retrospect, but I was quite a laugh from what he did for different jobs, but one question, isn't he still a plumber (his pastime).

Drug-SeX responds:

Yeah but you don't see him doing a lot of plumbinf now don't you? Ya know something? You people are stupid :P This is just a stupid cartoon. Just because I missed out some jobs or Mario is still a plumber doesn't mean shit. This isn't even a real story if you know what I mean. You people take this is into a too serious perspective! Shut the fuck up!
