I'm somewhat impressed this time.

And so as fate weaved... I, HaroFreak am again reviewing another animation of yours.

Well, first things first. You and your partner has created an animation which completely outdoes your first animation. Which is a good thing for you of course, since it shows improvment on you and your partner's behalf.

A fight to music against Lizard Men is what this animation is all about as it describes in the title. It's a good choice and certainly something done before, only with a bit more style mixed into it.

As usual, the in-depth analysis from me:

The graphics are partly drawn Frame-By-Frame whereas the rest are small looped tweens (Blood effects). Though they lack colour and solidity, it was something completely different than before, which is acceptable. My biggest complaint is just like any other: It was somewhat impressive, but too short to be very satisfied with. At least you can tell right from wrong now...

Music is a decent choice, and it somewhat fit the animation well. You did synch the action a bit, which is not too shabby. Not bad for your second successful animation.

The style was the common "Slice'em all up" theme which a few humans defend themselves from Mythical beasts such as LizardMen or Chimeras (Animal Composites with distinct biological structures). I enjoyed some of the fast-paced twirls and flashiness, but it was somewhat lacking in terms of length as before. A nice finisher would be a crowd pleaser.

To summarise your movie, it was something which you should be proud of as an achievment. Not bad indeed.

Personal Note: Don't take my review of your previous animation too negatively, I just wanted to help you.

thanks alot for this review.
my style, since its B&W, most people thinkt that its just laziness. but actually i was going for that...its sposed to be like a chalkboard kinda thing, and the blood is supposed to stand out so you know that the critters die.
i know its short, i didnt work long enough. about a week....
well thanks, and have a pleasant tomoro.

Idea; Check. Concept; Check. Q.C: Wha?

Hello there MightyDein, name is HaroFreak and I`m filling in a request for a review Plus a main order of Criticism.

The main idea and concept protrayed in your short animation is the classic battle for money during people`s teen years, but this time, it`s become personal. Overall it is not bad for an animation starring Robots, but it has some vital flaws including the lack of a "Natural Feel" Check and other various Quality Assurance checks.

And now the in-depth Analysis:

Your graphics are what I call "Pseudo Japanese" style; a style which emulates the Japanese Style to the average Gaijin limit. This is where your problem lies in: you lack the natural feel that all robot animations consist of. In other words: You lack the basic movement of joints and "Feel" of the hair, clothing, special effects, etc... This problem is because you should use Motion Tween for key moving parts instead of frame-by frame, especially the hair. Another thing is that there seems to be a lot of so^called "Jumpiness" not because of a low Framerate, but as I mentioned before, a lack of Implemented Motion Tween and the lack of transparency when appropriate.

The sound ain`t much to say about it asides that some sound effects can be placed at some points to give the animation an overall better feel.

The style is what concerns me as your work seems to be missing many attributes of a Robot Show.

1) SUSPENSE - All robot shows have strong suspense to attract the viewer to pay more attention to what is happening. So by extending the length of time of the Talking Scene. Remember: Story is as important as action.

2) EXAGGERATION - All Robot shows exaggerate scenes such as the robots activating (Example being EVA-01`s Activation Scene and Gundam`s Activation in 0079 One Year War). You made the robots activate too soon to give a strong sortie.

3) STYLE - Your robots were too plain when they activated and mobilised. You have seen robots on TV perform crazy human-like Stunts such as doing a Triple spin before landing on the ground.

Everything else is just petty things which are insignificant in your animation.

But in general, it is a good attempt. Just allow the viewer to read the text for aq bit longer and prolong some parts to give more depth and suspense.

Good luck on your next try.

What's next? Psyese the Chao or Psyg the Cat?

Hello, this is HaroFreak, another frequent visitor of Fireball20xl reviewing one of many crazy works made by Psyguy!

Generalising the overall animation... Well... more like Picture show with narration, is a "What would happen if Psyguy Merged with <Insert Official Sega Character here>?". The result? The contents of this crazy movie! Who would've known better than to introduce Psynic, Scream, Knucho, etc...?

Anyways, it would be wrong of me to carry on rambling. And now, the detailed analysis!

The graphics are what is to be expected from the webcomic genius. Donning the talents used for "That's My Sonic 2!" (also known as TMS2), Dirty Power and various other comics, pictures, etc, Psyguy again proves to us viewers is that animation cannot exist as a standalone without content and a plot. The still images are hillarious, funny and crazy end results of Psyguy + Sega Character! So kudos for that!

The music playing the background for the majority of the animation was Traverse Town from Square.Enix/Disney's game Kingdom Hearts (Or Final Mix). And the voices are self-recorded. The voices were very clear and overtweaked which made it high pitched, insane and plain freaky (BLRORJHKDHORMBLO etc... (Sails' Voice)); all which fit each psycho respectively, including the narrator's voice of course.

Allowing downloading of the voice files and the basic pre-loader and play buttons made it all the better in terms of user-friendliness. Nothing else.

Style... Ah yes... Who would've done such a psychotic thing... Which makes it another perk for being Psyguy by having the creativity to make a simple show such an enjoyment for both fans and random viewers! Hats off to Psycho!

The humour is the core of the animation. I just gotta love the voices, the script written for each character's introduction and so forth. The narration helped a lot too as it was very clear to hear and understand (Assuming that the viewer is not laughing his/her ass off). Well done indeed!

In summary, this is another Psyguy classic NOT to be missed!

Who're ya gonna call now?

Hi there. Name is HaroFreak and I'm here to review yet another Video Game parody.

The overall background of this flash animation is a classic involving the famous arcade classic "Pac Man". The animation in general is not only smooth, it is also very close to the original. Sprites are from Randy Solem's Video Game Flash Kits.

Now, onto the in-depth analysis.

The graphics as mentioned above are excellent as they are accurate to the original game. This applies to the ghosts, Pac Man, the game board, the dots, the "Power" and last but not least; the Ghostbuster team. The effects used to suck up the ghosts "Ghostbusters" style is beautifully done and very realistic even for a Sprite movie. Well done!

The music and sound is well synchronised, including soundtrack and sound effects from the original Pac Man and Ghostbusters soundtracks. They were very well added and implemented. Again, this is very well done.

The humour is great. I laughed hard when I saw Egon and the cast suck up those annoying and seemingly indestructible... ghosts. Guess I know who to call when I'm having trouble with this gaming classic (Laugh).

I'm glad that someone has thought up of this idea. This is one of the greatest Pac Man parodies since Randy Solem's Pac Man parodies from a few months ago.

For my closing words, this Pac Man parody is a breakthrough of another great Flash animation starring the classic game "Pac Man". Congratulations!

Wow, thank you! I love to see the in-depth analysis in the reviews. If only more people reviewed like this...

Congratulations all over again!

Hello there! HaroFreak here again to review another movie.

First; The Brief Part.
This animation is about the characters of LegendaryFrog's original list. They include Ark, Kerrigan, Sal and Senya; all of these characters have been super-deformed and put into another "Cuteness" movie instead of the dark and serious original plot.

This movie mainly consists of two co-existing plots; Kerrigan's ambition to invent something revolutionary, and Ark trying to free himself from the mind-bending Chinese Finger Trap. "It's like Satan reincarnated into a cardboard tube!" being Ark's personal description of the finger trap.

Now onto the serious and in-depth bit.

Your graphics in general are amazing, stylish and cute. From simple arm and leg joint movements to voice synching, mouth movement and effective real-ish motion. This kind of animation is something indeed worth watching again, and again, and AGAIN! I have only one thing to point out: In some joint spaces, there seems to be the absence of the out-lining partly due to the symbol limitations. But since the animation and the small detail is hard to be identified anyway, so this movie deserves the BIG 10.

Your voice recording was very clear and noiseless, it's very well recorded. The voice acting is great with the different accents from your peers. The voice synchronisation with the mouth movement is very good, It's a very rare occurance to experience such an animation with so much effort put into it.

Your style here is very cute. Ranging from irony before discovering that Ark has trapped his fingers in the finger trap to remaking a battle scene of Soul Calibur with Senya against Knightmare. Beautifully done again, I had no idea that Knightmare's sword can be so... super-deformed in such a way...

Your humour has long been an "Ears of the Beholder" kind of jokes. Some of your jokes might be referenced as "Overused" by some people, but that's because that those who say so do not realise the actual feel of the movie, or have terrible workstations that they are watching this animation from. Your jokes, paired up with your cute actions, drawings and comparison to serious situations ("Snake: Ow ow ow ow ow" is a humourous response to being shot).

As for your other factors, they are all a minority and as they are not the factor of this animation, they are not of any concern.

As my closing words; congratulations for making yet another beautifully made episode of "Ark and Kerrigan". I wish you good luck for your next project.

It's a decent attempt at Silliness.

Hello there. I am HaroFreak, a.k.a Andrew Yau. And I am reviewing upon request.

This flash animation is in general just a music-synchro type of show. The animation shown in general is silly, super-deformed and pretty good really.

Well, onto the in-depth analysis of your movie (It's a simple movie, but the process is still as always).

The graphics used in this movie are a mixture of mouse-drawn, photographs of disgruntled Macdonalds workers and a bit of CG here and there. The simple but decent animation has made the show rather enjoyable for people. I would criticise that some of the images are too grainy and over-skewed to extent that it is too odd looking. And the heads should have more dimensional feel by adding better tweening to it.

The sound/music is a silly choice, but it fits and synchronises decently with the flash animation. Good work.

In general, nothing else in particular stands out much about this flash movie, asides from the fact that it is a silly and odd submission.

In conclusion, the flash animation is simple and decent, but it could be improved by using more tweening. But assuming that this is a first flash, I can see that you have a long way to go. But every step you take, one step close to being a good flash animator you would be.

Good Luck.

This HaroFreak, Andrew Yau, Signing off.

Sloppy, unfinished and lazily done...

Hello there. I am HaroFreak and I am here to right the wrongs. Or in this case; review and criticise your movie.

Gundam Wing... a popular choice to make an animation of. First; you "ripped" the sprites from a famous Gundam-related Fighting game known as "Gundam Wing: Endless Duel" for the Super Famicom. The overall sprite ripping is decent but limited to only a few in an attempt to make smooth animations. That is not the right thing to do. Now for the in-depth analysis...

Your graphics in this flash movie is terrible. Not only that there is poor tweening shown in this movie, there is also very noticable lack of effort in the movie. Not only that the animation is unclear and sloppily drawn, most of the graphics were inaccurate. An example of this would be why Wing Gundam would become a Wing Zero during flight. That from the beginning is wrong as it is inaccurate to the original Animation with no explanation (e.g. If he transformed using Nano-Technology, fine. But if no reason provided, that is wrong). And most importantly, use more sprites.

The music chosen is "Rythm Emotion" performed by Two-Mix and the BGM that plays later on is from the OST of Gundam Wing. I dropped marks because it takes little skill to put in music. But to synchronise music and add sound effects are a different issue.

There is little style whatsoever, asides from some poor script rewrites from Gundam Wing. Asides from that, this movie is not what you expect good plot from.

The overall animation is... as much I hate insulting others but have no choice... TERRIBLE. But do not let this let you down. If you put your mind to it, you can make a better animation.

The old times from the modern perspective...

Hello and good evening, this is HaroFreak (a.k.a Andrew Yau) reviewing here.

First off, I congratulate you for this creative animation of the Old-School Games in the modern perspective. I am glad that someone has finally decided to publicise the Modern Day Person's view towards Old-School Gaming. Sure, some New Games are here to stay, but there would always, ALWAYS be a place for the Classic Games.

Now; onto the detailed analysis.

Your graphics were spot-on and clear. Most animations look odd when it mixes Game Sprites with Hand-Drawn images, but this animation is a big exception. Ranging from the two people's talking to Space Invaders and Donkey Kong! It doesn't get better than that, especially for a Classic-Gamer like me. Well done!

Your sound and voices are clear and crisp with very little Noise (Blurry sound). In fact; so little noise makes this movie so great! THe mouths and the sound effects synchronise with the animations very well. So kudos for that!

Your style is also very creative as mentioned earlier. Many people discuss the Old-School games but I'm suprised no one has made a movie of it... until you decided to. Well done indeed.

The humour is geared towards Classic Gamers and the modern gamers; this is a wide range of people who are in one of the categories. Thus making it appeal to many people, unlike "Classic Only" jokes.

As my closing sentence, congratulations for making this animation and I wish you luck on your next project.

This is HaroFreak; Andrew Yau; signing off.

An improvment on your previous work...

Hello again, Mr. Spriter. This is HaroFreak at the reviewing booth again!

Firstly, I applaude your improvment involving using multiple sprites for actions. This has indeed been an improvement over your last piece of work.

Now onto the detailed analysis:

Your graphics have what I call a slight improvment from last time partly because you now use multiple sprites for your animations. Now that you also introduce more complex tweening I also applaude you for. On the other hand; some of the animation looks un-natural especially the running and some of the attacks. The back attack on Bass (a.k.a Forte in Japan) seems to be rather sudden but un-natural looking. I think it helps when you do Rockman doing some After-Images of his own as a confusing attack sequence to make it better Eye Candy. And one more thing about the beginning dialogue; I suggest that you
make the monitor which shows X and Forte larger for better visual experience. And check your spelling regularily. It helps the viewer a lot to understand what is going on.

Your sound is a nice choice. Some well synchronised sound effects make for a better viewing experience. A great leap from previously! The sound effects are mostly clear, so kudos for it!

You added a play and restart button for better user-friendliness. This is a good addition.

The style is a common one; A battle between two separate characters from different games/timelines... But unlike many our there, this one seems to have a plot brewing up. Espeically when Bass mentions about his "Master Plan". It's a decent cliffhanger, if it was not too over-used.

A bit of Robot Violence, mostly hits and explosions and no visible oil leakages...

Small fragments of humour, but that is it. As this is what seems to be a serious-type animation, so it is naturally low in humour.

In general, this has indeed been a great improvment on your last piece of work. Your primary field of improvment is to make the sprite movements more natural. Now that is something which would bump your animation rating up! Good luck with your next project.

This is HaroFreak; Andrew Yau; Signing off.

Spriter responds:

Your reviews are always the most informative, thanks! Im not continuing with this, but Im currently making a flash called Mario V Sonic Spriter Special (I used the file of VGDC for the competition, wich is long over, but hey, I can still use the file!)

The plot thickens... BEAUTIFULLY!

Hello! And good evening again, Adam-san! HaroFreak reviewing this time; LONESOUL~~~ EPISODE THREE!!

There were many traces of a professional aura around your movies. Many involve the lighting effects, the sound effects, the SPECIAL FEATURES (Beautiful, beautiful... BEAUTIFUL!!)... All which were implemented into the animation like an official release DVD with profiles, music, extra gimmicks...

Your graphics are beautifully done. The blurring, the arm movements, the joints, lighting, etc... A major improvment from Lonesoul Episode one indeed. Same goes with making such nice robot designs and scenes. You really put your mind to this piece of work.

The music is a beautiful choice. Ranging from slow music to suit flashbacks to somewhat crescendo music during the Reunion scene. In the trailer for Lonesoul IV, I had no idea that a Kingdom Hearts theme could be put to such great use. Well done indeed!

The style is excellent. Despite how a Futuristic story can be written, this one is FIENDISHLY well written. Ranging from dialogue from different people and machines with different professions. In your trailer, it reminds me of the trailer of Kingdom Hearts II (Also known as: Deep Dive), especially with the numbers and quotes, but it's indeed a cliffhanging trailer which gives very strong encouragement to await Lonesoul IV. If there is a reward for "Most Epic Storyline", you have yourself an easy win!

Your interactivity has taken a shot up from last time; especially with the Scene-Selection, the Character Database and... the whole Special Section effectively!

In conclusion; Lonesoul III is by far the greatest of the three in the series. The plot thickens greatly when Lonesoul is now in custody of his past captors and he now fights for them to have his memories returned... or does he?

With my closing few words;
Adam-san, you are indeed busy lately. But don't let that bring Lonesoul IV down! You can do it! Good luck, you have my full support!

This is HaroFreak; Andrew Yau; Signing out!

adam-p89 responds:

Thanks so much Andrew! I really appreciate your long and in-depth reviews, they are the best on NG in my opinion. Lonesoul VI will start production after Christmas, as I will have a graphics tablet which allows me to draw realistic hand-drawn animation. And "Fallen Piece" was intended to be a little reference to Deep Dive for those who have seen it ;-). Thanks!
